About the role
The British Council is seeking a Payroll Consultant for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. This fixed‑term position will be based in Accra, Ghana, and operates under a hybrid model with three days per week in the office. You will manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Execute the full payroll cycle for assigned countries, validating employee data from MyHR and other sources.
- Coordinate with the Managed Service Provider, Finance, and HR teams to secure approvals and payments.
- Maintain compliance with statutory, tax and social‑security regulations in each jurisdiction.
- Prepare and submit statutory filings, respond to government inquiries, and support audit activities.
- Manage daily interactions with local payroll vendors to meet service level agreements.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
Required profile
- Legal right to work in Ghana at the time of application.
- Ability to work on‑site three days per week under a hybrid arrangement.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the MyHR payroll system.
