Principal Human Resource Officer

About the role

The Ghana Railway Development Authority seeks a senior HR professional to lead the development and management of its human‑resource functions. Reporting to senior management, the Principal Human Resource Officer will ensure that HR policies, recruitment, staff welfare and training programmes support the Authority’s rail infrastructure mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for effective HR management across the Authority.
• Implement HR policies and programmes covering employment, wages, salaries and benefits.
• Organise recruitment of qualified personnel and maintain positive workplace relations.
• Supervise the updating of staff records, monitor postings and maintain personal histories.
• Coordinate promotions, transfers, compensation, fringe benefits and staff welfare initiatives.
• Develop and oversee training programmes for staff development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum six years of relevant HR experience, including at least three years in a senior management position.
• Strong knowledge of labour laws and collective bargaining.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and report‑writing abilities.
• Strategic planning, research, analytical and team‑working skills.
