About the role

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) serves as the chief academic advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and Council, overseeing all academic and student matters across the university. This senior leadership position provides strategic direction for teaching, research, and service programmes at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary academic advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and Council.
• Lead the academic division, providing guidance to Academic Deans and ensuring compliance with university policies and national regulations.
• Collaborate with Deans and Programme Directors to maintain and enhance the quality of teaching, research, and service programmes.
• Recommend appointments of academic personnel in teaching and research.
• Chair statutory committees as prescribed by university statutes.

Required profile

• Professorial rank with extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration.
• PhD with a demonstrable record of scholarship and academic leadership.
• Deep appreciation of collegial governance and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of emerging instructional technologies and contemporary higher‑education issues.
• Previous senior academic positions at least at the level of Dean.
