Project Manager – FMNR Heritage Project

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the two‑year FMNR Heritage Project aimed at restoring degraded lands and improving soil health for smallholder farmers in the Nadam District, Upper East Region of Ghana. This role involves scaling Farmer‑Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), coordinating with traditional authorities, and fostering inclusive community participation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of the FMNR Heritage Project, ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
• Scale up FMNR practices by working with traditional authorities, local land users, and farmer field schools.
• Build capacity on sustainable land‑management, fire management, and best practices.
• Organise eco‑clubs and inclusive activities for women, men, and pastoralists.
• Integrate direct programming, partner‑led spread, and community‑led spread to create an enabling environment.
• Use national and regional stakeholder forums to promote dialogue and share lessons.
• Oversee overall project operations in Ghana, providing technical input aligned with expertise.
• Manage the project budget in collaboration with finance staff.
• Coordinate with WV Germany and WV Ghana technical staff for effective contributions.
• Prepare programmatic reports, annual plans, and donor budgets; deliver regular progress briefs.
• Facilitate semi‑annual planning, budgeting, audit reviews, and quality‑assurance procedures.
• Select, mentor, and supervise programme team members, ensuring effective in‑country team functioning.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating FMNR or similar land‑restoration projects.
• Ability to work with traditional authorities, local land users, and diverse community groups.
• Strong capacity‑building and knowledge‑transfer skills in sustainable agriculture and fire management.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitating multi‑partner dialogue.
• Demonstrated competence in project budgeting, reporting, and audit preparation.
