Project Manager – Strengthening Newborn Respiratory Care Project

About the role
The Project Manager will lead an 18‑month initiative funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints to strengthen newborn respiratory care in district hospitals across Accra and the surrounding region. Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, the role combines technical oversight with operational management to reduce preventable neonatal deaths.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and day‑to‑day management of the Strengthening Newborn Respiratory Care project.
- Coordinate with the Ghana Health Service, Ministry of Health and district hospital teams to implement project activities.
- Oversee data collection using the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS2) and other standardized monitoring tools.
- Ensure compliance with Project HOPE’s code of conduct, financial procedures and reporting requirements.
- Monitor progress against indicators, produce regular MEL reports and apply continuous quality improvement (CQI) methods.
- Manage project budget, procurement and staffing within the 18‑month fixed‑term contract.
Required profile
- Minimum 7 years (84 months) of project management experience in health or humanitarian settings.
- Demonstrated experience in newborn or maternal‑child health programs.
- Strong knowledge of Ghana’s health information systems, especially DHIMS2.
- Ability to work on‑site in Accra and travel to district hospitals as needed.
- Senior‑level professional with a track record of delivering results under donor funding.
