Project Officer – AgrEcoNUS+

About the role

The AgrEcoNUS+ project aims to strengthen food and nutrition security, climate resilience and inclusive economic development in Sub‑Saharan Africa by promoting neglected and under‑utilised species (NUS) through agro‑ecological approaches. As a Project Officer, you will coordinate project activities, ensure compliance with donor and CRS standards, and provide technical guidance to staff and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and lead project activities according to the implementation plan, CRS quality principles and donor requirements.
• Provide training, technical guidance and advisory support on NUS crop systems through demonstration fields and farmer field schools.
• Support the establishment and strengthening of community seed banks and local seed systems.
• Facilitate civil‑society engagement with authorities on policies and regulations for farmer‑managed seed systems.
• Promote structured information exchange, learning and knowledge sharing among project actors across countries.
• Advocate for the inclusion of NUS in sustainable food systems at national and regional levels.
• Raise consumer awareness and trust in NUS and agro‑ecological products.
• Document all project activities in line with agency and donor reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in agricultural development, agro‑ecology or related fields.
• Strong coordination and relationship‑management skills.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, NGOs, researchers and government officials.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
