Regulatory Counsel – Legal

About the role

Jumo is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join its legal team in Accra. You will work independently in a fast‑paced environment, balancing commercial and regulatory priorities while providing sound legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and research legal documents in‑house, engaging external counsel only for specialised risks.
• Manage complex, cross‑border regulatory projects across multiple African jurisdictions.
• Interpret and apply regulatory frameworks while supporting business objectives.
• Collaborate with product, compliance and risk teams to ensure alignment with legal requirements.
• Maintain relationships with regulators in Ghana and other African markets.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive under pressure in an evolving regulatory landscape.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex issues.
• High cultural awareness and experience working across diverse environments.
• Self‑motivated, resource‑ful and able to lead initiatives without relying on hierarchy.

Required skills

• Fluent French (spoken and written) is a plus.
• Experience in micro‑credit, mobile money, telecommunications, banking or lending sectors.
• Established relationships with regulators in Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and French‑speaking African territories.
