Remote Software Engineer (Rust)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced software engineer (tech‑lead level) to help build and evaluate large‑language‑model (LLM) datasets that target realistic software‑engineering problems. You will work remotely with Turing’s AI team, bridging hands‑on engineering and AI research.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open‑source libraries.
• Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment provisioning.
• Evaluate unit‑test coverage and overall code quality.
• Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug‑fixing scenarios.
• Collaborate with researchers to select challenging repositories and design evaluation tasks.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on project deliverables.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of professional software‑engineering experience.
• Tech‑lead or senior‑level competence in navigating complex codebases.
• Comfortable working fully remotely with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• Willingness to lead a small team of junior engineers.

Required skills

• Rust programming language.
• Git version control.
• Docker containerization.
• Experience with unit testing and test‑coverage evaluation.
• Basic software pipeline setup (CI/CD).
