Safety Specialist

About the role

The Safety Specialist will lead all workplace safety activities at our hardware manufacturing facility in Accra and Tema. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations, protect employees, and support a culture of zero incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor daily safety operations across the factory floor.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, identify hazards, and enforce corrective actions.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of machinery, electrical systems, and equipment.
• Support fire prevention, emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and accident response procedures.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near‑misses; prepare detailed safety reports.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for all staff.
• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection logs, and incident documentation.
• Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, and HR to resolve safety issues and meet occupational health standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, and accident prevention.
• Experience conducting inspections, training employees, and investigating incidents.
• Ability to enforce safety rules and promote a strong safety culture.
• Good communication, observation, problem‑solving, and reporting skills.
• Relevant certificate, diploma, or professional qualification in Occupational Health & Safety is an advantage.
