Security Engineer

About the role

Cornerstone is seeking a security‑mind​ed technical contributor to help improve the safety, resilience, and trustworthiness of its digital infrastructure. This remote, part‑time internship is ideal for students or early‑career professionals eager to gain hands‑on experience in fintech security.

Key responsibilities

• Review applications and infrastructure for common security weaknesses.
• Assist with authorised vulnerability assessments in approved environments.
• Examine authentication, access controls, API security, and data‑protection practices.
• Identify insecure configurations and dependency vulnerabilities.
• Support security logging, monitoring, and incident‑response preparation.
• Document findings, recommend remediation actions, and prepare technical evidence for external assessments.

Required profile

• Knowledge of networking, Linux, and application security fundamentals.
• Understanding of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
• Basic grasp of APIs, authentication, HTTPS, and encryption.
• Familiarity with security testing concepts and tools.
• Strong ethical judgment, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
