Senior Finance Officer – Insurance Sector

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer will lead the financial management of Apex Health Insurance, ensuring robust planning, reporting and regulatory compliance. This role is pivotal for supporting the company’s growth in the health insurance market.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Lead the budgeting process, financial forecasts and variance analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, tax laws and NHIA guidelines.
• Monitor cash flow, manage treasury functions and optimise working capital.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure successful audit outcomes.
• Mentor and manage the finance team, fostering high performance and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAG, CPA or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, preferably in health insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles and statutory compliance.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
