Senior Financial Analyst – Venture Capital

About the role

Renew Capital, a pan‑Africa investment firm, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support its venture capital activities across the continent. The role sits at the heart of the investment process, helping to source, evaluate, and monitor high‑potential portfolio companies.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust three‑statement financial models for prospective investments and existing portfolio companies.
• Analyse historical financials, forecasts and assumptions to assess risk, return and scalability.
• Conduct market sizing, competitive analysis and primary/secondary research to support investment theses.
• Lead financial and commercial due‑diligence processes from initial screening through investment committee review.
• Work with portfolio CFOs on budgeting, 13‑week rolling cash‑flow forecasts and financial controls.
• Monitor portfolio performance, calculate key ratios, and flag risks or opportunities early.
• Translate complex analysis into clear presentations, memos and dashboards for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field; MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred.
• 6–8+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, private equity, venture capital, investment banking or corporate finance.
• Proven experience with growth‑stage companies and exposure to African markets.

Required skills

• Advanced financial modeling, including integrated three‑statement models.
• Valuation techniques and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
• Capital structuring and depreciation schedule expertise.
• Budgeting and cash‑flow forecasting.
