Technical Competence Development Specialist

About the role

Sandvik is looking for a Technical Competence Development Specialist to lead competency‑based training for the Simandou mining project in Ghana. You will design, implement and sustain learning pathways that bridge theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring operational excellence across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Identify knowledge and practical skill gaps across the workforce.
• Develop and maintain competency frameworks aligned with business and EHS requirements.
• Create and manage a training and coaching schedule to address identified gaps.
• Deliver on‑site technical training, coaching sessions and assessments.
• Implement a continuous coaching philosophy and ensure consistent application.
• Maintain accurate coaching and competence records and produce regular progress reports.
• Collaborate with site management to set technical skill targets.
• Transfer knowledge to local counterparts through shadowing.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve programs based on feedback and performance data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in a similar competency development or training role.
• Proven experience planning, driving and coordinating training programs.
• Strong business acumen with a solid focus on Environment, Health & Safety.
• Extensive experience in training needs analysis, design, development and implementation.
• Excellent communication skills.
