University Librarian (Head of Library)

About the role

The University Librarian leads the Cape Coast Technical University Library, reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor. The role is responsible for providing up‑to‑date reading and audio‑visual resources that support teaching, learning, research and community service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans, incorporating emerging technologies and fiscal management.
• Supervise library staff and ensure efficient operation of all university library locations.
• Formulate library policies in conjunction with the Library Committee and Academic Board.
• Maintain collaborations with national and international library organisations.
• Represent the library in university administration and committee meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum of a research Master’s degree in Library or Information Science; PhD preferred.
• At least six years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent senior library role.
• Minimum fifteen cumulative publications and membership in a professional librarianship body.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and ensure resource availability for faculty and students.

• Proficiency with library software systems.
• Computer literacy and ability to work with emerging technologies.
