VIP Driver – Safe Transportation for Officials

About the role

The VIP Driver provides safe, reliable and timely transportation for senior officials of the African Union. The role supports official meetings, diplomatic visits and other engagements by ensuring smooth mobility and adherence to security protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Drive official vehicles and transport VIPs to and from designated locations, including airport pick‑up and drop‑off.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logs, record mileage, fuel consumption and service activities.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks (oil, water, battery, brakes).
• Coordinate logistical arrangements for officials to ensure seamless execution of meetings and events.
• Adhere to Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and all AfCFTA Secretariat policies.
• Maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders regarding transportation needs.

Required profile

• High school certificate and a clean, valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum three (3) years experience as a driver in an international organization, national agency or public service.
• Experience supporting VIP or official missions is a strong advantage.
• First Aid, CPR or emergency response certification is desirable.
• Defensive driving or VIP driving training and basic mechanical knowledge.
