Web Research Specialist – Remote (8‑week Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Web Research Specialist to support an AI evaluation project. This remote, 8‑week contract focuses on deep open‑web investigations rather than traditional content writing. You will design challenging research problems that test advanced AI browsing agents.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct deep open‑web and investigative research using primary sources, government databases, archives, and PDFs.
• Find, validate, and cross‑verify information across multiple sources.
• Create research questions with objectively verifiable answers and multi‑step clues.
• Build detailed, auditable evidence trails with precise citations, including exact pages, tables, and sections.
• Document search processes and maintain rigorous documentation.
• Research unfamiliar topics independently while maintaining high accuracy.

Required profile

• 3+ years of relevant research experience.
• Strong open‑web research / OSINT skills.
• Proven ability to locate and validate primary sources.
• Excellent written English and meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience with LLM evaluation, red‑teaming, or benchmark construction.
• Background in at least one of: OSINT, investigative journalism, KYC, archival research, patent prior‑art, legal discovery, genealogy, or puzzle‑hunt research.
