About the role
The Workshop Engineer – Fabrication & Construction is responsible for planning, supervising and executing fabrication, welding and construction activities to ensure safe, timely and quality delivery of engineering projects and maintenance works.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise fabrication and construction works both in the workshop and on‑site.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications for fabrication.
- Design and prepare fabrication drawings using AutoCAD or other CAD software.
- Plan and coordinate cutting, welding, fitting, machining and assembly activities.
- Ensure materials, tools and equipment are available for scheduled jobs.
- Monitor work progress, enforce project timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections on fabricated structures to verify dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
- Ensure welding procedures and fabrication processes comply with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication Engineering or related field.
- MINCOM certification (highly desirable) and registration with a recognized professional engineering body such as GHIE.
- 3–5 years of experience in workshop fabrication, construction or heavy industrial operations.
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, communication and team‑player skills.
Required skills
- Metal fabrication and structural steel works.
- Welding processes and welding inspection procedures.
- Reading, interpreting and developing engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of construction methods, piping systems and structural assembly.
- Workshop planning, material estimation and job costing.
- Understanding of safety standards in fabrication and construction environments.
