BI Enterprise Data Warehouse Specialist

About the role

Vodafone Ghana is looking for a BI Enterprise Data Warehouse Specialist to join its Business Intelligence unit in Accra. The role covers the design and development of reports and queries, data capture and transformation, and the ongoing performance and stability of the BI platform, working with IT Demand, IT Infrastructure, IT Architecture and Strategy, and the Testing team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop reports and queries according to user requirements, and capture and transform data from sources in line with those requirements.
• Design reports consistent with existing ones, keeping standards, look and feel and Vodafone Group standards.
• Work with IT Demand, IT Infrastructure and other teams, and manage stakeholder requests from the business.
• Review the performance of the BI platform, identify gaps and implement improvement plans; troubleshoot and fix technology and process issues.
• Define policies and standards for solution technologies across operations, and work with IT Architecture and Strategy so solutions fit Group and local architecture standards.
• Work with the Testing Manager and Test Team so solutions are robust before going live, and monitor interfaces and source systems.
• Support Global and OpCo roadmaps, align solutions with other Business Support Systems, and define technical requirement specifications.
• Monitor, bug-fix and resolve production support incidents, and ensure project delivery follows Incident and Change Management policies.
• Manage third-party IT/IP vendors, advise project teams on complex issues, assess product feasibility and evaluate new IT trends.

Required profile

• Strong technological background with a qualification in Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent.
• More than 2 years' experience in BI/DWH support.
• Professional qualification in a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Required skills

• Excellent SQL skills and good knowledge of relational and object database models.
• High-level BI tool expertise and development skills.
• Knowledge of ETL practices and tools, and analytics tools such as SAS, SPSS or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of software application development and testing methodology.
• Good knowledge of core telecommunications networks.
• Familiarity with MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Oracle, Microsoft BI, Teradata, Exadata, ODI and OBIEE.
