Career Counsellor

About the role

Dexterity Educational Consult is seeking a full‑time Career Counsellor to work on‑site in Ghana. The role involves providing personalized academic and career guidance to students aiming for tertiary education abroad, helping them select suitable institutions, programs, and scholarship opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑on‑one counselling sessions to assess students’ academic profiles and career goals.
• Identify appropriate universities, programmes and scholarship options that match each student’s qualifications.
• Assist students in planning and preparing for standardized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, ACT, OET and LSAT.
• Guide applicants through the preparation of admission and scholarship documentation and advise on timelines.
• Support students through visa application processes and coordinate with teachers and administrative staff.
• Maintain accurate student records, update information systems and contribute to outreach activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement of counselling resources and services.

Required profile

• Strong counselling, mentoring and advisory experience, preferably in international education.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation abilities for both individual and group sessions.
• Organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple student cases and deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, International Relations or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with standardized test frameworks (IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, ACT, OET, LSAT).
• Proficiency with basic digital tools such as email, spreadsheets and word processing.
• Experience using online platforms for information management.
