Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

About the role

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its anaesthetic and surgical team. Working under the supervision of senior anaesthetists, you will deliver safe and effective anaesthesia services for a variety of surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre‑anaesthetic assessments, including history taking, physical examination and review of laboratory and imaging results.
• Develop patient‑specific anaesthesia, multimodal pain‑management and recovery plans.
• Obtain informed consent for anaesthesia and pain‑management procedures.
• Prepare patients for anaesthesia and provide education on pre‑, intra‑ and postoperative care.
• Ensure availability and functionality of all required medications, equipment and consumables.
• Administer anaesthesia, sedation and multimodal pain management under supervision.
• Verify that anaesthetic machines, patient monitors, suction devices and airway equipment are operational and appropriate for each case.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse or Midwife with an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Anaesthesia.
• Member in good standing with the relevant medical and dental council.
• Minimum of three years post‑qualification clinical experience.
• Experience in emergency medicine and proficiency in procedures such as intubation is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and conduct research.
