Chief Housekeeper

About the role

The Chief Housekeeper leads the entire housekeeping operation on a cruise vessel, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, personalized butler and cleaning services to guests and crew. This senior position is responsible for maintaining impeccable standards across guest suites, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces while upholding public health requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all housekeeping activities, guaranteeing superior guest satisfaction and compliance with company policies.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of the ship to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Interact proactively with guests to anticipate and fulfill their expectations.
• Manage the housekeeping team, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance monitoring.
• Handle guest requests, enquiries, and complaints efficiently, ensuring timely resolution.
• Monitor and act on guest satisfaction data from comment cards and rating scores.
• Inspect VIP and suite areas at embarkation, performing random checks on other cabins.
• Maintain confidential employee records and ensure proper administrative housekeeping.
• Prepare cruise reports, suggest service improvements, and manage complaint logs and operational costs.
• Coordinate with HR on personnel matters and uphold a fair corrective‑action system.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in housekeeping management, preferably in luxury hospitality or cruise environments.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills with a focus on teamwork.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to guest satisfaction and adherence to public health standards.
