Clinical Oncology Specialist – Full‑time

About the role

The Clinical Oncology Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site position based in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana. The role provides comprehensive clinical oncology services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing management of cancer patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review clinical histories and interpret diagnostic tests to determine cancer staging and treatment pathways.
• Prescribe, administer and monitor chemotherapy, targeted therapies and supportive medications while ensuring safe drug handling.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives, contribute to protocol development and support data collection for studies.
• Provide education and training to junior staff and students, and maintain accurate documentation in line with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, nurses and allied health professionals to improve patient outcomes and drive continuous quality improvement.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization or advanced training in oncology; board certification or eligibility is an advantage.
• Current professional registration or license in good standing and eligibility to practice in Ghana.
• Strong clinical expertise in oncology, including diagnosis, staging and management of various tumor types.
• Solid foundation in internal medicine and experience working in hospital or clinical settings.
• Experience in clinical research, including participation in studies and application of evidence‑based guidelines.
