Communications Officer – Tamale

About the role

The Communications Officer will be based in the IBIS Programme Office in Tamale, reporting to the Country Director. The role focuses on developing and implementing a communications strategy to raise the profile of IBIS and its partners, support advocacy, and facilitate knowledge sharing across stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and continuously revise a communications strategy in consultation with Programme Directors and the Country Director.
• Oversee implementation of the strategy, providing regular progress reports and strategic recommendations.
• Build and maintain relationships with mass media and relevant organisations to promote IBIS activities and increase stakeholder involvement.
• Draft and edit articles, press releases, human‑interest stories, and other advocacy materials for web and traditional media.
• Coordinate regular publication of the IBIS newsletter in collaboration with the Regional Communications Advisor.
• Publicise IBIS and partner work to support advocacy and fundraising efforts.
• Plan and support IBIS participation in national advocacy events, preparing information materials and handling logistics.
• Identify advocacy issues with Programme Directors and partners and advise on media engagement.
