Deputy Director of Internal Audit

About the role

Koforidua Technical University is seeking a dynamic, self‑motivated professional to serve as Deputy Director of Internal Audit. The role supports the Director in overseeing all audit functions, ensuring compliance with national regulations and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Internal Audit in overseeing functions mandated by the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) and other finance‑related laws.
• Control and maintain financial transactions and accounting records in line with general accounting standards and government regulations.
• Review monthly and annual financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare operating budgets, oversee multi‑year fiscal planning, and coordinate annual audits.
• Analyse budgets and provide recommendations to the Director of Audit.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of audit personnel.
• Develop, implement and maintain auditing and administrative policies and procedures for the university.

Required profile

• Research Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant with membership in a recognised professional body (e.g., ACCA, ICA, CPA).
• Minimum six years senior internal audit experience in a university setting, or ten years managerial experience in industry or public practice.
• Evidence of scholarly publications for external assessment.
• Proficiency with accounting and auditing software applications.
• Analytical, result‑oriented, innovative and able to work independently under pressure.

Required skills

• Chartered Accountant qualification (ACCA, ICA, CPA).
• Knowledge of CISA standards (advantageous).
• Computer literacy with accounting software.
• Familiarity with auditing software applications.
