Director of Nursing Services

About the role

The Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is seeking a dynamic Director of Nursing Services to lead nursing and midwifery teams. This senior position provides strategic direction, ensures high‑quality clinical practice, and supports the hospital’s mission of excellence in patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Set and evaluate nursing and midwifery practice standards in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Promote and monitor quality‑assurance systems across all nursing units.
• Advise on manpower planning, ensuring equitable staff distribution.
• Monitor performance, provide mentorship, and lead professional development initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and disseminate nursing policies and recruitment strategies.
• Safeguard staff welfare and contribute to research, development, and strategic planning.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree) recognized by the Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Minimum of three years experience as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer or equivalent senior nursing leadership role.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, advocacy, and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team‑player skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in report writing.
• Good computer literacy.
