Director of Nursing Services

About the role

The Director of Nursing Services will provide strategic leadership and direction to nursing and midwifery teams at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality patient care and adherence to professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set, monitor and evaluate nursing and midwifery practice standards in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Promote and oversee quality‑assurance systems across all nursing services.
• Advise senior management on staffing needs and ensure equitable distribution of personnel.
• Monitor performance, provide mentorship, and lead professional development initiatives.
• Develop, implement and disseminate policies; plan recruitment and succession strategies.
• Ensure staff welfare and contribute to research, development and strategic planning.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree) recognized by the Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer or equivalent senior nursing leadership role.
• Demonstrated excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation and conflict‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in report writing.
• Good computer literacy.
