Electrical Technician (MV) – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

The Electrical Technician (MV) for Surface Mine Infrastructure will support AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Gold Mine by performing high‑voltage electrical maintenance and refurbishment on the plant’s power systems. The role reports to the Electrical Supervisor and works on incoming grid connections, HV distribution, transformers, motors and generator sets, ensuring safe and compliant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out HV electrical maintenance, including distribution networks, transformers, motors and generator sets.
• Perform on‑call breakdown repairs and support refurbishment projects.
• Conduct daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks before leaving the workshop.
• Identify and report any equipment or crane anomalies.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Maintain accurate work order data in SAP and assist the Maintenance Planner in closing orders.
• Ensure all activities comply with Ghana government regulations and AGAG safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a certified HV electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five years post‑apprenticeship experience in a high‑voltage industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Fully literate and numerate with a strong commitment to personal and team safety.
