Electrical Technician – Underground (Mining)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our underground mining team at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role involves maintaining and refurbishing electrical systems such as secondary fans, sub‑stations and cable networks in a fully mechanised underground environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical refurbishment and routine maintenance on secondary fans, sub‑stations, cable runs and related equipment.
• Carry out daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment and report any anomalies.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams to coordinate mechanical and electrical works.
• Maintain accurate work‑order data in SAP and support the Maintenance Planner.
• Adhere to Ghana government, AGAG and site environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Recognise and escalate equipment or crane operation issues that may require maintenance.
• Participate in required training and development activities.

Required profile

• Secondary education level with a certified electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years of post‑apprenticeship experience in an electrical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Fully literate and numerate, competent in electrical trade practices.
• Knowledge of safe crane operation.
