Electrical Technician – Winders

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Electrical Technician to maintain and refurbish winding equipment, lighting, signals and related plant systems. The role operates on a shift schedule (3 days) and regular schedule (5 days) in a safe, compliant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance and refurbishment on winders, winder houses lighting, signals, shaft bank areas, dewatering systems and conveyors.
• Execute daily pre‑start checks of equipment and tools, reporting any anomalies.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP.
• Ensure compliance with Ghanaian government regulations, AGAG policies and LI2182 safety standards.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a certified mechanical/electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• At least five years post‑apprenticeship experience working on winding equipment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulation.
• Full literacy and numeracy.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance on winding equipment.
• Knowledge of winder house lighting, signals and shaft bank systems.
• Experience with dewatering and conveyor electrical systems.
• Proficiency in SAP work‑order management.
• Safe crane operation practices.
• Understanding of LI2182 safety requirements.
