Engineering Superintendent – Pastefill & Material Handling

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Superintendent to lead the Pastefill and Material Handling engineering function, ensuring plant availability, safety and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement material handling plants, including underground conveyors, crushers, chutes and near‑shaft banks.
• Oversee pastefill plant maintenance and minor projects, applying engineering standards to maximise uptime.
• Deliver safety management plan elements, collaborate with maintenance, refurbishment, planning and construction managers to meet AGA’s Integrated Management System.
• Drive energy efficiency, aiming for optimal mine energy consumption per unit produced.
• Build and lead the Pastefill and Material Handling engineering team, ensuring appropriate organisational structure and succession planning.
• Provide technical guidance to refurbishment projects, review and sign‑off execution plans, designs, testing and commissioning documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground mining engineering, preferably in material handling or pastefill operations.
• Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities.
• Ability to work safely in a high‑risk environment and achieve zero reportable incidents.
• Understanding of energy optimisation and sustainable plant operations.
