General Programme Officer – Upper West & East Regions

About the role

ActionAid Ghana is seeking a motivated General Programme Officer to support the Local Rights Programme across the Upper West and East Regions. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will work directly with rights‑holders and partners to challenge violations, gather evidence, and shape national policy advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operationalise strategy papers, concept notes and policy positions for ActionAid Ghana and the wider federation.
• Strengthen rights‑holder organisations to engage government and local authorities on programme priorities.
• Support partners in building skills for policy analysis, advocacy, lobbying and influencing.
• Identify key issues for fundraising and sustain partnership networks with stakeholders.
• Collect and analyse critical policy information for national‑level action.
• Ensure timely reporting and documentation to meet donor and community accountability.
• Assist in designing monitoring and evaluation indicators for the Local Rights Programme.

Required profile

• First‑degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Human Rights‑Based Approach programming.
• Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation and child‑sponsorship programmes.
• Computer literacy with effective written and verbal communication.
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, presentation and negotiation abilities.

• Base salary of GH¢1,024.41 (Band 3: Step 1).
