About the role
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is seeking a dynamic Head of Public Affairs to lead its strategic communication and media initiatives. This senior position will shape the association’s public image, influence policy, and ensure effective stakeholder engagement across Ghana.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop and implement a comprehensive strategic communication plan.
- Coordinate all media activities and serve as the editor‑in‑chief for in‑house publicity and audiovisual materials.
- Train regional, district and local officers on effective media handling.
- Monitor daily media landscape, manage issues, and craft strategic responses.
- Maintain and regularly update the association’s website.
- Supervise, appraise and develop direct reports.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the General Secretary.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, Public Relations, International Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in public affairs, public relations, government or media relations.
- Age between 40 and 55 years.
- Proven track record influencing public policy and managing complex stakeholder environments.
- Professional certification with the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (Associate Member or higher) – preferred.
- Professional teacher and GNAT member in good standing – advantageous.
