Health Communications Writer (Storyteller)

About the role

Smile Train is seeking a talented Storyteller / Health Communications Writer to strengthen its brand visibility and support its mission of providing free cleft care worldwide. You will craft compelling narratives, manage media relations, and help shape internal and external communications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a high‑impact media relations strategy to enhance the organization’s reputation.
• Create written and digital assets such as press releases, pitches, talking points, and thought‑leadership articles for traditional and digital outlets.
• Support the design and rollout of campaigns that raise brand awareness and promote Smile Train’s programs and events.
• Research reporters, media outlets, and publicity opportunities to secure coverage.
• Maintain media lists, press contacts, and distribution lists.
• Monitor, analyse, and report PR results on a regular basis.
• Plan and coordinate events that build positive relationships with the public and the Smile Train ecosystem.
• Keep the PR team updated on industry trends and adapt strategies accordingly.

Required profile

• Proven knowledge and experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.
• Natural, empathetic storyteller with excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, multi‑timeline environment with limited supervision.
• Experience assessing and implementing communications strategies within large institutions.
