Impact & ESG Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Impact & ESG Manager to lead the ESG, impact measurement, compliance and sustainability agenda across our renewable energy portfolio in West Africa. This hands‑on position will develop and implement ESG frameworks, ensure alignment with international standards and embed best practices throughout the business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the ESG framework and Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS).
• Ensure compliance with DFI, investor and international ESG standards, monitoring regulatory changes and climate‑related risks.
• Implement an Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) framework using IRIS+, SDGs and Theory of Change, overseeing data collection, reporting and audits.
• Lead GHG accounting (Scopes 1‑3), climate reporting and ESG reporting for investors and lenders.
• Deliver the 2X Challenge strategy, Gender Action Plan and promote diversity, local content and community engagement.
• Conduct ESG due diligence for new projects, manage supplier ESG compliance and sanctions screening.
• Oversee the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, including emergency response, audits and training.
• Support KYC, AML, anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption compliance and advise leadership on ESG obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ESG strategy, impact measurement and compliance within the renewable energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of international ESG standards such as IFC Performance Standards, EDFI E&S Standards and DFI requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and engage stakeholders.
