Lead Designer

About the role

Re|Root Collaborative is seeking a Lead Designer to drive its textile up‑cycling operations. The role combines hands‑on sewing and product construction with technical leadership of a cohort of seamstresses and tailors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance, training, and coordination for a team of seamstresses and tailors.
• Participate actively in sewing, tailoring, sample‑making, prototyping, and production of up‑cycled bags, home goods, accessories, and functional textile items.
• Maintain product quality, troubleshoot technical sewing challenges, and ensure consistency across the cohort.
• Contribute creative vision, stay aware of modern design trends, and experiment with new techniques.
• Support the development of skills and workflows within the production team.

Required profile

• Experienced seamstress, tailor, or designer with a strong background in garment and product construction.
• Creative, detail‑oriented, and adaptable with a passion for waste reduction and sustainable design.
• Effective time‑management and leadership abilities.
• Interest in both functional up‑cycled products and contemporary fashion design.
