Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a commercially minded, common law‑trained lawyer to serve as the In‑House Legal Counsel for our multi‑jurisdictional fintech group. You will be the primary legal resource, working closely with the executive team, compliance, and commercial functions across Africa, Europe, North America and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including bank partnerships, mobile money schemes, payment arrangements and vendor contracts.
• Maintain an organised tracker of all group agreements, renewals and key obligations.
• Prepare and manage board and shareholder resolutions, support entity incorporations and corporate restructurings, and maintain corporate records.
• Support licence applications, renewals and regulatory filings, and engage with regulators on legal matters.
• Provide pragmatic legal advice, support dispute resolution, contribute to internal policies and manage external advisers.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (Ghana, UK or similar) with a current practising qualification.
• Minimum 7 years post‑qualification experience, with demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance and corporate secretarial matters.
• Experience managing legal work across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating external counsel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly organised.
