Legal Director – Mobile Financial Services

About the role

The Legal Director will sit on the Executive Team and provide strategic legal, regulatory and risk counsel to the Managing Director, CEO, Board and business units of Telecel Ghana Mobile Financial Service Limited. The role is responsible for shaping the legal and compliance framework that supports sustainable growth and protects the company’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward‑looking legal strategy aligned with business growth, network expansion and digital services.
• Serve as principal legal advisor to senior leadership on contracts, disputes, regulatory matters and major decisions.
• Strengthen corporate governance, board processes and compliance culture in partnership with the Company Secretariat.
• Lead corporate transactions such as M&A, joint ventures and partnerships, ensuring compliance and value creation.
• Ensure compliance with telecom regulators, the Bank of Ghana and other authorities, overseeing AML/CFT, data protection and anti‑bribery programmes.
• Negotiate and draft high‑value commercial agreements, manage vendor and partner contracts, and oversee contractual risk allocation.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, manage litigation, arbitration and external counsel relationships.
• Provide legal leadership during crises, operational incidents or regulatory breaches.
• Lead, develop and succession‑plan the Legal team, promoting ethical conduct and high integrity.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree.
