Legal Officer (Ghana)

About the role

The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) is seeking a qualified Legal Officer to join its Ghana National Office. Reporting to the Head of the Legal Unit, the incumbent will support the Council’s legal functions across its examination programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research on issues affecting the Council’s operations.
  • Represent WAEC in court proceedings and before quasi‑judicial bodies.
  • Serve as a member of staff investigation committees.
  • Provide legal advice and support to the Head of the Legal Unit and other departments.
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by senior management.

Required profile

  • University degree in Law and professional qualification as a practicing advocate of the High Court of Ghana.
  • Minimum three years of relevant legal experience.
  • High integrity, confidentiality and reliability.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills.

Required skills

  • Computer literacy.
