Legal Officer (University Legal Office Head)

About the role

Koforidua Technical University is seeking a qualified Legal Officer to head its University Legal Office. Reporting to the Registrar, the incumbent will provide expert legal counsel to senior management and represent the institution in all legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Vice‑Chancellor and other senior officials on contracts and legal agreements entered into by the University.
• Manage and defend legal suits involving the University before Courts of Justice and adjudicating bodies.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to higher‑education institutions.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of legal documents and contracts.
• Supervise any junior legal staff and coordinate with external counsel as needed.

Required profile

• LLB and BL degrees and called to the Bar by the Ghana Bar Association.
• Minimum of six (6) years post‑qualification experience practising law.
• Completed National Service.
• Demonstrated sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism.
• Ability to submit a written work sample for evaluation by two external assessors.
