Maintenance Controller

About the role

The Maintenance Controller will lead a level‑four control and automation maintenance team within a production environment, ensuring maximum equipment availability and continuous improvement of brewing, packaging and utilities assets. The role combines coordination, coaching, technical advice and cost control to drive reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all packaging electrical and automation maintenance activities and lead the C&A team.
• Diagnose and interpret faults to optimise production output and carry out plant repairs.
• Reduce breakdowns in the brewing area by analysing failures, complying with preventive maintenance and implementing continuous improvements.
• Review and implement planned maintenance procedures, including daily, weekly and monthly checklists.
• Coach and develop engineering skills of maintenance and operational staff using OPL and SOPs.
• Control maintenance costs against budget and ensure engineering standards are applied.
• Lead safety inspections, enforce PPE policies and ensure safe work practices.
• Identify CAPEX opportunities, prepare ZBB maintenance budget and monitor risk areas.

Required profile

• Degree or HND in Electrical, Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
• 3‑5 years of control and automation experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of brewing, utilities or packaging plants is an advantage.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to manage a maintenance department.

Required skills

• Electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering.
• Control and automation system troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with AWS for coaching artisans.
• Ability to develop and apply preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
