Materials Handling Supervisor

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Materials Handling Supervisor to lead the maintenance and refurbishment of our conveyor and materials‑handling systems, ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance for breaches and lead by example to maintain a safe work environment.
• Plan, execute and supervise refurbishment and routine maintenance of conveyor systems in line with the Environmental Management Plan.
• Review, approve and sign‑off shaft maintenance items, detailed designs, testing and commissioning plans.
• Monitor and report on maintenance progress, cost, schedule and quality to meet project targets.
• Control the refurbishment process to avoid cost overruns while maintaining safety, budget and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager to verify safety, operability and reliability of new builds.
• Ensure compliance with reporting processes and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising maintenance technicians in a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong commitment to HSE standards and continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple maintenance programmes and communicate progress effectively.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and capable of leading teams to meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Conveyor maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Materials handling systems operation and refurbishment.
• Understanding of environmental and HSE compliance requirements.
• Experience with maintenance planning, reporting and documentation.
