Mechanical Supervisor – Processing Plant

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised operation. The Mechanical Supervisor – Processing Plant will lead the maintenance and refurbishment of the plant’s mechanical assets, ensuring high availability and safe operation.

Key responsibilities

• Apply total quality management principles and ensure zero‑defect and safety objectives.
• Adhere to the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Lead a team of mechanical fitters, fabricators and boilermakers.
• Coordinate daily work orders, breakdown response and refurbishment activities during Phase 1 & 2.
• Generate work requests in SAP for maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Implement condition‑monitoring routes, collect vibration and other data, and diagnose rotating equipment issues.
• Participate in root‑cause failure analysis and continuous‑improvement reviews.
• Identify and propose cost‑reduction and savings projects.

Required profile

• Experienced mechanical supervisor with a self‑motivated attitude.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a tradespeople team.
• Familiarity with plant refurbishment and transition to operations.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and environmental compliance.

Required skills

• SAP for work request creation and maintenance planning.
• Condition‑monitoring techniques for rotating equipment.
• Vibration analysis and data‑collection tools.
