Mechanical Technician, Auxiliary Equipment

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Mechanical Technician to maintain and repair auxiliary mining equipment at its Accra Hub in Ghana. The role ensures equipment availability and optimal production by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in line with OEM specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance routines, inspections, and routine servicing of drills, shovels, and support equipment.
• Generate work orders and raise job cards before any remedial or repair work.
• Plan and schedule own workload, coordinating with support services and addressing items on the maintenance planning schedule.
• Install, maintain, and repair equipment according to OEM specifications.
• Troubleshoot technical and operational problems and perform breakdown repairs.
• Disassemble and re‑assemble major components for repair work.
• Ensure all lock‑out/tag‑out procedures are completed before work begins.
• Provide spare parts availability information and assist specialists with complex repairs.
• Follow established OEM procedures, operating manuals, and best‑practice guidelines.
• Achieve daily and rotational quality targets, including First Stop After PM (FSAP).

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance of mining or heavy‑equipment assets.
• Ability to work independently, schedule tasks, and coordinate with support teams.
• Strong knowledge of OEM specifications and safety standards.
• Familiarity with lock‑out/tag‑out safety procedures.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality targets.
