Mine Captain – Production

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised, high‑efficiency underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Mine Captain – Production to lead quality assurance, control and risk management for all ore extraction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly (4‑3‑2‑1) plan that outlines production priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare and submit the annual cost‑centre budget and ensure delivery of production outputs within approved budgets and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership, promote a strong safety culture and integrate environmental management into production plans.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to support the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret data for tactical decisions.
• Proven leadership and managerial capabilities in an underground mining environment.
