Mine Captain – Production

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanized underground operation. The Mine Captain – Production will lead quality assurance, control and risk management for ore extraction, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly production plan, identifying priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare and manage the annual cost‑centre budget to achieve approved production outputs.
• Deliver mining production activities within budget, schedule and KPI targets.
• Provide safety leadership and promote a culture of safety, health and sustainable development.
• Integrate environmental management into the production plan and its implementation.
• Equip and develop the production team to consistently meet budget and quarterly plans.
• Drive project implementation, accountability and continuous improvement across the mining department.
• Build and maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to deliver the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
