National Consultant: Development of standard tools for monitoring and assessing Climate Resilient Safely Managed Sanitation

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a National Consultant to lead the development of standard tools for monitoring and assessing climate‑resilient safely managed sanitation (SMS) at the district level in Ghana. The consultant will work remotely, collaborating with government partners and UNICEF country teams to strengthen data systems and support evidence‑based decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop standardized monitoring tools for climate‑resilient SMS at district level.
• Establish a comprehensive administrative data system to track sanitation progress and link indicators to health outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance to government and implementing partners on data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Support the integration of sanitation monitoring into Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) frameworks.
• Produce guidance documents, training materials, and reports for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH, sanitation monitoring, and climate‑resilience assessments.
• Familiarity with Ghana’s sanitation sector and government data systems.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results within tight timelines.
