Packaging Process Artisan

About the role

The key purpose of this role is to keep packaging equipment operating as‑if new, ensuring reliable performance through regular inspections, corrective actions and root‑cause problem solving. You will coach operators on proper equipment use and support autonomous operations while contributing to the zero‑based budgeting process.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist operational support to shift‑based teams, acting as a functional expert for mechanical equipment and fault‑finding.
• Participate in planned‑maintenance meetings, execute work during outages, and contribute to post‑mortem reviews.
• Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and inspections according to the maintenance schedule.
• Perform running repairs on plant equipment, assess problems, determine corrective actions and complete related CMMS documentation.
• Apply structured problem‑solving techniques, escalating issues when necessary.
• Maintain safe work practices, perform housekeeping and apply 5S principles.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested N3 Mechanical Artisan/Fitter.
• Trade‑tested Motor Mechanic.
• 2‑3 months on‑the‑job training plus Manufacturer Basic Maintenance Training (ideal 3‑6 months).
• 1‑2 years of experience as an artisan in a similar industry.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding.
• Motor mechanic expertise.
• Proficiency with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
