Physician Assistant – Full-time Clinical Role

About the role

We are seeking a full-time, on-site Physician Assistant to join The Japan Medical Center in Ablekuma, Ghana. Working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver patient-centered care across outpatient and inpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Take comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Order, interpret and act on laboratory and imaging investigations.
• Assist in developing and implementing treatment plans, including prescribing medications within local regulations.
• Perform routine clinical procedures within the approved scope of practice.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, lifestyle changes and preventive health.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately in electronic medical records.
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives, case discussions and training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Recognized Physician Assistant qualification and current licensure/registration in Ghana or eligibility to obtain it.
• Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions.
• Strong commitment to patient-centered care, cultural sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, families and care teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities safely.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ordering and interpreting laboratory and imaging tests.
• Competence in routine clinical procedures relevant to primary and specialty care.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, patient safety protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
