Primary Two Teacher

About the role

Loozeele Initiative and Loozeele Excellence Academy, a non-profit organisation based in Upper East, Ghana, is looking for a compassionate and committed educator to lead a Primary Two classroom. The school supports young Kayayei women from Northern Ghana who receive vocational training in trades such as basketry, weaving, baking and shea butter production. The school runs a programme for the children of these women, and the post is open to a dedicated teacher with a background in education.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans and interactive activities for Primary Two students, supporting their social, emotional and intellectual development.
• Monitor and evaluate each child's strengths, needs and progress so that personalised support can be given.
• Organise and lead daily routines such as circle time, storytelling, play sessions and rest periods, and coordinate educational and recreational events that build motor skills, language abilities and social connections.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians about student progress, classroom updates and concerns, through regular meetings and feedback sessions.
• Keep the classroom secure and hygienic, enforce health and safety guidelines, provide basic first aid when needed and document any incidents.
• Work with colleagues, staff and administrators to build a supportive school culture, and take part in professional development and training workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy and a sincere commitment to the welfare and development of young children.
