Procurement Officer

About the role

A full-time Procurement Officer is needed in the Accra and Tema region, within the construction industry. The role covers planning, sourcing, negotiating and following up on materials and services for construction projects, while keeping purchases within budget and within company policy.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and review material and service requisitions, verify they are complete and approved, and prepare procurement plans and purchasing schedules
• Sourcing and evaluation: build a supplier network locally and internationally, request quotations, compare offers and maintain an updated supplier database
• Negotiate prices, discounts, payment terms and delivery charges, and monitor market prices for construction materials
• Prepare purchase orders, track them through delivery and keep complete records of requisitions, quotations, POs, invoices and contracts
• Follow up with suppliers, coordinate deliveries with the warehouse and logistics teams, and resolve delays, incorrect quantities or defective goods
• Ensure materials meet technical specifications, obtain certificates of conformity and test certificates, and approve substitutions
• Maintain a procurement tracking register, prepare weekly or monthly reports and support budget monitoring and audits
• Manage supplier relationships and follow ethics, compliance and internal controls, including avoiding conflicts of interest
